County Sports Partnerships offer for Health

The County Sports Partnership Network has launched a powerful new offer for the NHS and the emerging public health service.

The new offer has been developed through the national network and will be adapted and delivered to meet local needs.  It aims to help health agencies unlock the potential of physical activity to address health outcomes, and is an early response to the unprecidented changes occuring within the NHS and public health, and supports the recently announced 'responsibility deal'.

The offer is presented in two parts:

Your strategic commissioning partner...
Firstly, County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) can help health agencies with all elements of the commissioning cycle by acting as their 'strategic commissioning partner'.  Through their understanding of their local population and the network of physical activity providers, CSPs are uniquely well placed to manage the interface between public health and the physical activity and sport sector.  They can help identify the physical activity and health needs of their population, lead the production of strategies, support capacity building in the third sector, and can support the design, delivery, monitoring and review of physical activity interventions.

Your local delivery network...
Through their project management experience in delivering effective interventions, their extensive network of providers, and collaboration with other CSPs across England, CSPs can manage the provision of a wide range of activities and services to support the prevention and treatment of ill-health.

This offer will provide a win-win for both health agencies as well as sport and physical activity providers wishing to develop their provision to meet health outcomes and target groups.
