Access to Disability Sport Conference

London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are just a little over a year away and as the excitement builds and the UK prepares to take its place on the international media stage, Sport Hamshire & IOW, the University of Southampton and local partners are hosting a conference on access to disability sport on 13 September 2011.

The aim of the conference is to increase the profile of Paralympic sport, share best pracice, provide learning opportunities, influence perceptions and celebrate the achievements of athletes and performers with disabilities. It is hoped that the themes of the conference ensure people make the most of the London 2012 Paralympic Games and are prepared for the increase in interest and the legacy that will follow the games.

There will be a series of workshops run, facilitated by experts in their subjects, and within each of the subject areas there will be appropriate acitivities based on elite and recreational standard participation and opportunities.
