PRO-ACTIVE London Coaches Pledge

As part of their contribution to the Legacy from the Olympic and Paralympic Games, PRO-ACTIVE London have launched ''The Coaches Pledge'' - an Inspire Marked project which aims to “turbo-charge” participation in sport and physical activity, while raising awareness of the role of coaches and the impact which coaching can have on increasing participation in sport and physical activity.

In keeping with the Games theme, coaches can achieve Gold standard and pledge 10 or more hours, Silver standard and pledge 5 hours or more and Bronze standard of 1 hour of coaching.

Coaches can pledge a minimum of one hour’s voluntary coaching to clubs, community organisations and individuals in London - The Pledge relates solely to new activity and does not include hours coached by way of existing relationships.

A target has been set of encouraging 2012 hours of new coaching activity between now and September 2012!

Coaches who take the Coaches Pledge will have a chance to feature in 'Coaching Masterclass' sessions with some high profile coaches who have also pledged time.

How can I Pledge?
You must be at least 18 years old and hold the appropriate national governing body qualification enabling you to lead a coaching session unsupervised.
or at least 16 years old and hold the appropriate national governing body qualification enabling you to work as a coaching assistant under the direction/supervision of a lead coach.

You must have appropriate insurance to coach or be covered by the organisation or individual for which you will be coaching.

You must have an Enhanced CRB check if you are coaching chilldren or vulnerable adults.

Pledge coaches should also, where appropriate, have attended or be willing to attend in the future 'Safeguarding and Protecting Children', 'Equity in Your Coaching' and 'Coaching Disabled Participants courses'.
