Sport Cheshire launches new enterprise workshops for clubs

Sport Cheshire has launched a series of workshops designed to support and equip community sports clubs and organisations to meet the exciting challenges and seize the opportunities of the new sporting landscape'.

Delivered in partnership with Anne Ibrahim from Big Society Works (www.bigsocietyworks.com) and Svend Elkjaer from Sports Marketing Network (www.smnuk.com), who are both regarded leading facilitators and deliverers in their respective fields.


Community Asset Transfer: eyes wide open - delivered by Anne Ibrahim  from Big Society Works

The Localism and Big Society agendas together with significant financial constraints are forcing Local Government to review who is best placed to operate community facilities. This 3 hour interactive workshop is designed to help you to better understand Community Asset Transfer and appreciate the benefits and risks. It is aimed at decision-makers within clubs and groups who are considering accepting responsibility for an asset either now or in the future.

Workshop objectives

The workshop will enable you to:
 * understand the importance of defining the transfer proposition up front
 * assess the capability of your organisation to manage assets
 * equip you to prepare and negotiate for responsible asset transfer
 * discover how to access additional help and support.

 Community Sports Enterprises - delivered by Svend Elkjaer from Sports  Marketing Network

 Sports providers are facing strong challenges in order to survive and  grow in an increasingly competitive and demanding market. This 3 hour workshop will help to transform your sports organisation by  introducing the enterprise skills of the private sector with a strong social and community mission.  It will be of interest to those working in community sports clubs and groups, national governing bodies, local  authorities and school sports partnerships.

Workshop objectives
 This workshop will provide you with dozens of proven ways you can become a vibrant, visible and viable Community Sports Enterprise. No boring theory...just exciting, positive and proven action points drawn from best practice from community sport at all levels across the UK and abroad. The workshop will look at techniques including how to:
 * attract new members and retain the existing ones,
 * become a hub of the community,
 * grow sponsorship revenue,
 * increase your attendances,
 * improve the social life of the club,
 * increase media coverage,
 * benefit from new technology,
 * introduce new revenue streams...
