Through Sportivate, CSPs play a pivotal role in engaging children and young people into sport. Targeted at those who do not choose to participate in sport in their own time, Sportivate aims to inspire, motivate and support young people aged 11 to 25 to build a sporting habit for life. CSPs work with local delivery partners to plan and deliver high-quality coaching sessions in activities that appeal to young people.
760,489 young people have taken part and completed a Sportivate project between 2011 - 2017.
Using local insight and targeted programmes CSPs have successfully increased the number of female participants to 56.6%, an increase of 15.4 percentage points since year one. In addition there is also significant increases in the number of disabled young people and those from black and ethnic backgrounds.
Throughout the 6 years of the programme 18% more young people were reported active 3 months after a sportivate project than at registration. Positive behaviour change was most prominate in disabled participants and those living in top 10% of most deprived areas.
